Internationalist Feminism: Towards An Anti-Oppressive Psychoanalytic Praxis

with Lara Sheehi, PsyD

Friday, April 14, 2023

7:00 PM 9:00 PM

Online, 2.0 CEs for qualifying practitioners

This talk will take up how Psychoanalysis can learn alongside past and current internationalist feminist movements at this urgent sociopolitical moment. More specifically, the talk will underscore how we must extend core psychoanalytic axioms to their liberatory ends if we are to commit to a truly feminist and, therefore, anti-oppressive praxis. Examples from the Global South will be explored, with focus on how clinicians in Palestine, South Africa and India think through and with Psychoanalysis to challenge hegemonic structures and systems.
